St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feast—on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage. St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. But for all his celebrity, his life remains somewhat of a mystery. Many of the stories traditionally oopsyociated with St. Patrick, including the famous account of his banishing all the snakes from Ireland, are false, the products of hundreds of years of exaggerated storytelling.Happy St Patrick's Day to all Irishmen & women ;D ;D ;D

I like the St. patrick's day. because eveyone wears in the same color; green. and It is very fun that see people on the street dress up crazy stuff!! Also if you go to some bars they have the green beer that you can buy too. it is very fun that see people get crazy, singing or celebrate on St Patrick's day. and the most view that you have to see is the green rive on the Michagan Ave. in chicago. It is the huge river but it is green. I usually like to go there and take pictures overthere.!! ;D

I like a lot all kind of festivity. Green is my favorite color, then for me the city gets more beautiful. All bars, stores, restaurants have green decoration. Almost everyone wears some green acessorie. As well the shamrock that is symbol of St. Patrick's day is lovely.

To be honest, I don't know anything about this St. Patrick Day before I came here. I'm not religious of any kind. So I guess that partially explains why. The interesting thing about all kinds of holidays we celebrate nowadays across the world is that some of them are religious holidays. But that fact seems not to matter any more. The celebration of any kind is worldly shared by people with different culture background. For those who are religious, it's holy. For those who are not just like me, it's an opportunity to celebrate and reunion with your families and friends. Being grateful and enjoy the life you are living now.

Although I came here last spring, I did not go to see the celebrate of St. Patrick’s Day. I only heard about it before that people would like to color the Chicago River in green color, everyone wear green. This year I went to see it. I chose a green sweater and green scarf. It was so cold and snowy. And I did not find many things which I thought it could be interesting. I think St. Patrick is a really important person in the history who explained the holly trinity.
