I'm from Thailand. We are greeting by placing the hand together and slightly bow the head in the front of people.Slightly bow the head is show that you are respect espectually older people. The word often spoken as a greeting is Sawasdee.Placing the hand together is also common as a way to express gratitude or to apologise. This traditionnal observed upon entering formally a house and after the visit is over.In Thailand, we don't touch, hug, kiss each other. If we love somebody we do hug but not in public place.I hope everyone enjoy my comment.Thank

This is the way we do when we say SAWASDEE in Thai.... A wai is usually given when you meet someone for the first time and you want to show respect to this person (i.e. your parent’s friends or someone older than you). If the person being introduced is younger than you, you have to wait for this person to wai you first and then you reciprocate with a wai. If you’re the same age, you can just nod your head and say “Sawadee Krub/Ka”. We Thais respect our elders by giving the wai first. However, you don’t always have to follow the age rule, as the main reason for the wai is to show respect as mentioned. Sirinrat Sunthong
