In our culture, we do not wear ring when we are married. It is only for beauty, also un some times ,when the imperial concubines can not serve the king, they would like to wear rings. Because in Chinese, we use the character of “prohibition” to name the ring. Because of the effect of Western culture, we became to wear rings when we married. We only wear one. I have seen some American women when I take the train. They always wear two rings in their ring finger of their left hands. One ring always has big stone on it, the other one is always simple. But the men always wear one. I do not know why.

In Brazil is very traditional a gold ring. When the girl get engaged, she and her fiancee use the ring in the right hand. Once married they start to use the same ring in the left hand.

In Thailand, the man will give the woman a ring when he want to ask her for marry. Mostly, they will exchange the ring in the engagement ceremony. But, sometime it can be that the groom is the only person who give the ring to the bride. They will put the wedding ring on their left ring finger. The marriage ring is made by gold decorated with diamonds or just the plain gold depend on thier like. Many people believe that the diamond ring is the symbol of a eternal love. But it's very expensive too. For me i think it doesn't matter how expensive of the marriage ring. It's depend on the feeling of our couple.

In Russia we don't have a tradition of engagement rings. But now girls, who watched too many Hollywood movies, become very upset when they don't get one So, guys already know that girls expect them and eventually the tradition will appear, I think

In Ukraine there are no original traditions about engagement ring but I totally agree with the post about Hollywood movies, they all now want this ring. When my husband proposed me to become his wife he also gave me an angagement ring, I put it on my right fourth finger and since that time it served as a sign for everybody that I'd already agreed to connect my life with somebody. After marriage we both wear weding ring and it was kind of difficult to get used to wearing it on my right hand in USA but it's ok now. In my country it is better to wear a ring when you are married because many people and men in particular can interpret you in a wrong way and in order to avoid it, let everybody know that you are married. For example now I'm pregnant and whenever I'm using public transport or visit doctor's office everybody just looks at my left hand at the very first moment and I can feel confident and protected because there is a man who loves me and the baby we're going to have and I don't mind if everybody sees it.

Wow I have never heard that they wear both at once. In my country they would only wear wedding ring, but I noticed that in USA, both the engagement ring and the wedding rings are diamonds, however in Mongolia, national golden ring is the most common. They have special pattern that represents that it is wedding ring.

Marriage is the most important step for a couple because they are starting a new family, they will live together and they promised to love each other until they die. And the ring plays a big role of connecting them. It is also something valuable and great thing.

There is no proper set way. There is the traditional finger, the ring finger, but it can be on either hand. Generally, the only rule is that both members of the couple, if they both choose to wear rings, wear it on the same finger.

I do understand why people give each other those rings like a symbol of love when ancestrally ring is a symbol of compromise, commintment and love but why usually are men those who have to give rings? Why don’t women give the ring? Don’t men have the same right? Yes, in some cultures men do wear engagement rings, it's very popular in South America and it's catching on in other places. It would still be an engagement ring, not a promise ring if a man wore one because he is engaged as well, it's not just the woman who's engaged.
